Conservatory out, brick-built garden room in
The old conservatory taken down and a brick-built room put up in its place — gable end in full-height glass, black aluminium sliding doors, solid tiled roof, and brickwork matched to the house.
The job
The existing conservatory was taken down and cleared, and a brick-built room built in its place off the same rear elevation. New foundations and brickwork went up first, with the facing brick chosen to sit against the existing house rather than announce itself.
The gable end is glazed full height in black aluminium, with sliding doors returning along the side onto the patio. Above it, a solid tiled roof with matching fascia, soffit and rainwater goods — so unlike the conservatory it replaced, the room holds its heat and is usable all year.
Brickwork, roof, glazing and making good were all done by our own teams on one contract, and the patio was made good around the new footprint on completion.
