Driveways & patios
Block paving, Indian stone, outdoor tiles and decking — with the base done properly underneath.
About driveways & patios
Almost every failed driveway we get called to has the same problem: not enough base. The blocks look fine for a winter and then they start to move, because what is underneath them was never deep enough or was never compacted.
So we dig out properly, get the levels and the falls right, deal with the drainage, and only then start laying. It costs more on day one and it is the reason the job is still flat in ten years.
Out the back it is the same principle — a patio in Indian stone, porcelain tiles or composite decking, set out so the water runs away from the house rather than towards it.
Common questions
Do I need permission to pave a front garden?
If the surface is permeable, or the water drains to a border or a soakaway rather than into the road, you generally don't. We design the drainage that way as a matter of course.
Should I have the paving sealed?
It's worth it. A sealed drive sheds water, stays cleaner and is far easier to jet-wash. We do that side of it too, through our coatings team.
How long does a driveway take?
Most domestic drives are three to five days including the dig-out, depending on size and how much muck has to come away.
What guarantees do you offer?
All our windows and doors come with a comprehensive 10-year insurance-backed guarantee, so the cover outlasts the invoice. Roofing and building work carries its own guarantee, and ProPERLA coatings come with a 10-year manufacturer's guarantee on top of ours.
