About properla facade coating
Wet building materials lose heat far faster than dry ones. Testing has shown a damp content of around 5% in a plain brick wall can cut its insulation performance by up to half, which is why keeping a wall dry is one of the cheapest thermal improvements available to most houses.
ProPERLA facade coating is a technically advanced two-coat coloured coating that reduces how much water the surface absorbs by up to 96%, while remaining highly breathable so moisture already in the wall can still get out. Independently tested to BS-EN ISO 15148, the European standard for water absorption by partial immersion, and to BS-EN ISO 7783 for breathability.
It is super-hydrophobic, which is where the self-cleaning behaviour comes from — water beads and runs off rather than soaking in, taking dirt with it. It has a 25-year life expectancy and comes with a 10-year manufacturer's guarantee.
Common questions
Does the wall still breathe after coating?
Yes. The ProPERLA range is designed to be highly breathable so it doesn't interfere with the wall's natural ability to dry outwards — which is exactly where cheap sealers cause trouble.
Can it go over a wall that's already painted?
Facade coating can, yes. Masonry crème and the clear water repellent can only go onto untreated absorbent surfaces.
How is it applied?
Predominantly by airless spray after the surface has been cleaned and any remedial work done. It can also be roller-applied. The preparation is most of the job.
Why use a trained applicator?
Because the preparation and any remedial work have to be right before a drop of product goes on. That's what the guarantee depends on.
